WRITING

I write because I believe that I can achieve my goal of understanding myself fully. I have found that when I speak, I cannot clearly express the thoughts in my head or the feelings in my heart, but when I write, those thoughts and feelings are distinct and pure. It is easy to say that the goal of writing is to entertain, enlighten, expose, or even express to the public that what I have to say is important, however, it is far more than that and I plan to explore and discover myself further through my writing. Initially, when I started my writing journey, I was completely unaware that that was exactly what I was doing -- starting my journey as a creative writer. At first, I thought that journalism would allow me to gain a deeper understanding of myself as a writer. Even though I gained experience and furthered my writing knowledge and skills, I did not feel fulfilled or satisfied as a writer in this field. I also didn't know that the incredible world of creative writing was an option for someone living in a third-world country. However, I did learn something vital about myself and why I want to write. I understood that I need much more artistic freedom than the journalism field could ever offer. I also came to understand that I write solely for the pure pleasure of putting pen to paper and bleeding onto a blank page. I do not necessarily aspire for fame or fortune. In fact, I am well aware that writing is one of the toughest career paths to follow and often many do not succeed. However, this does not scare me. Instead, I am excited and find it invigorating to be a part of such an influential community of thinkers, dreamers, and doers.
